We have talked about how your direct mail can set your ad apart from the many ads we see throughout the day. But how can you set your direct mail apart from other mail pieces? Here are some innovative tips to set your campaign apart:
Video Brochure
Something cool we’ve seen recently is video brochures. The mailers have actual tablets integrated into them that can play videos when the mailer is opened or when a button is pressed. You can even have multiple videos loaded onto it that your prospects can scroll through. These tend to be relatively expensive, so most tend to do highly targeted mailings to prospects that are towards the bottom of the sales funnel. You can’t deny that it grabs attention though.
Interactivity
Have you ever asked your prospects to cut your mailer to pieces? This is something we did for a summer camp mailer we sent home with students. The mailer contained the pieces and directions for building a plane, an owl and a catapult with pieces outlined and cut from the flier! It was a fun way to engage the kids and get parents’ attention. This is just an example of the kinds of fun things you can incorporate.

Ever received a pair of 3D glasses with a mailer? That might be kind of fun. What about a scratch and sniff? A wood grain texture? There are many options when it comes to adding a bit of extra flair.
